LESSON LEARNT AFTER 6 WEEKS

over the pass two weeks, i learn something new again!!! i learn about two new search tool. one of them is the metacrawler and the other is the subject directories... whats new abt them? well the metacrawler is somehow similar to the google search tool. the common thing i found about the metacrawler search tool is that most of the search result is obtain from google lo. so i don thing it will help me much in future when i do my research.. just go straight to google will do!! haha as for the subject directories, i didnt obtain much from there.. more like a website to find entertainment stuff. maybe if you are looking for books related to some topic u can try using subject directories.. it works like if u r looking for news related to sports, u have to go to the link that is under sports. after which a list of sports will appear and from there u can choose what type of sports and the news u are looking for!!! 

WIKI
another part of the activity that have been done is doing the wiki... any idea wat is wiki about?? well i am nt sure either. i jus know that its a place where u can put in information, and edit on information found in there. and i did my part by contributing pictures and information related to the formation of the tsunami. i hope it helps!!! haha and if u guys found some error in it, pls do update it so that others will be able to gather the most relevant information from there!!!

TERM TEST
wats coming up next week??? YES!!! its the term test!!! gosh... this semester is so short!!! next week is term test alr and im nt prepared for it!!!! how i wish term test can be like 2 more weeks later!!! time table is so rush!!! haiz... ALL THE BEST TO ME!!!!!

E-Learning

No lesson for EIR today.... But E-learning was rather hard lo... Have to log in to 2nd life and do online shopping... Don really like it lo cos its like so hard and so complicated... And it is very lag!!!! The navigations and stuff was rather Chui!!! its like so hard to use la!!! I DON LIKE 2ND LIFE!!!! But well i did do some shopping online!!

Process of making friends!!! haha It was quite cool lo cos in real life I bet u wont have the guys to go ard and talk to strangers esp when there is like stabbing cases recently in town... Haha... But i still do like 2nd Life to some extend...
 Well it is rather relaxing to shop in the 2nd life as the ambiance is what u will nvr get in real life... in the virtual world u wont get to fly around... haha and u wont get to see big shops!!! and the big shops are real BIG... like one building which consist of multiple level is one shop.. and there are buildings everywhere...

Well as compare to the online shopping i did two weeks back, its kind of different because shopping on websites i jus look at the pictures online and click here click there... in the virtual world u get to walk here and there, maybe fly up and down, but one thing in common i found is that both can only show u pictures... u cant try on the clothes that u may like to buy in the virtual world... The very different feeling is that u r putting urself in the virtual world and u walk ard places like we do in the real world... But seriously i don really like to play in the 2nd life because I find it hard to move ard places... All the navigation are so hard to use and understand... The most challenging thing today is when i was try to meet my friend in the virtual world... i tried to walk ard here and there but still couldnt find her... Den when i wan to search for a place, the search result sometimes couldnt be found!!! so is like so TROUBLESOME!!! Don really like it!!! But after all it was still an interesting lesson for the subject!!! 

Tired week

Phew!!! a very long and tired week... so many things are happening and i have like so little time to do!!! recently i jus finish the POL-ITE games for Badminton and guess wat?? TP came in Champion for the third year in a row!!!


Apart from Sports there are also loads of work coming in lo.. but i still prefer our cds lesson!!! haha cos we jus surf the net and do research... haha but don assume we surf for nothing lo...
we surf to source for different types of websites that provide different kind of information.
Like for this week lesson, i tired using google and google scholar to search for my research topic.
Guess wat i found? The two different search engines show a very big different in the search result.. The google search engine direct me to many websites which includes blogs pages, organizations website and also news pages whereas the google scholar only display the search results that came from books or author... I only realise it when i see the citation of the books and the name of the author in google scholar search engine lo..
Really impressed by the google search functions. this indeed help me alot because in future when i need to look up for online books i can use google scholar instead of google as it will help me narrow down on my search for books...

Another activity we did in class was to take part in the discussion forum in facebook... Gosh.. Discussion forums is a good place to look at if u are comparing things lo... in the forums ppl talk abt how they feels towards a common topic. Be if positive or negative, they jus comment on it. So i guess if u r nt sure whether one product is worth buying anot, perhaps u can go to the product forum and take a look at the comments posted by ppl.
Another thing that often struck my mind was y must we citation and bibliography? Well actually it to serve as a form of respect to the author i guess... in recognition to their work ba.. i bet u also don like ppl to steal ur work and name it as theirs RIGHT? I believe that is the purpose ba..

ONLINE SHOPPING

GUESS WAT I WILL BUY???? HAHA

YES!!! WII... haha i have been waiting for a long time to buy wii... everyone is like having fun with it.... And i wan to get one for myself too.... den when i gt no time to do exercise \, i will jus on my wii and do some exercises.... on top of that i also wan to get one shorts from ARMANI EXCHANGE... it look like this!!!

DOES THIS LOOK NICE ON ME???? I guess it does!!!! HAHA
Well some wrap up for the lesson last week... I learn some skills in doing research lo...
We can jus type on the keyword on the search engine and jus choose watever the pop out shows lo...
We have to look at what is the website supporting the information, for example like, ls it a personal opinion or view from blog? OR a real Scientific Fact that is being publish on a Organisation Website... This are small little things that can help us in achieving better grades because ur teacher may look at the reliability of the information that u have look up... For example like the Wii and the shorts I buy, I would rather go to their original website like nitendo.com for the Wii and ArmaniExchange.com for the shorts. Y will i do that? Because i believe by looking at their ORIGINAL website, i Wont be getting and imitations stuff and the price is worth to pay for if u r really looking at something with the branding and their establishment... I believe the wont cheat on the consumers as they have to protect their reputation. i guess i will be more careful in doing research in future lo... 

1st Day in EIR

Hi there!

I am Boon Seong... You can call me Ah Boon because is easier for people to remember my name. Well ,I am a Year 2 Student in Electronic Engineering and has been study very very hard. Hopefully my grades allow me to further my studies in NTU... Here a little background about me!!

I actually came from a sporting background, i have been trained to become a badminton player since is was the age of 9 years old so total up i would have about 12 years of experience! After my 'O' Levels i went on to pursue my passion in Badminton for 2 years to becoming a full time badminton player before National Service. No doubt being a National Player there is a lot who will look up to you, but actually a national athlete is just another normal person who works as a sportsman... The sad thing is a national athlete don get good pay and they need to train from day to night and just a few hours of resting! haha.. They pay u just enough to cover up for your food and transport expenses... How sad :(  Many of my classmates frequently ask me this question :" Do you regret that you leave the national team ?" Well, seriously NO,because i take it as part of my life and is really good learning experience(because the they will send us to overseas for competition),that passion can provide you with a living.... haha! i would encourage people to go for their studies because in singapore, Sports really cant bring u far and once you hit your bottle neck, they would ask you to leave the team or becoming a bench warmer.

Alright let's change another topic, during my free time, i like to go prawning with my classmates or my girlfriend. Although my mother always nag me when i say i wanted to go prawning,but is my hobby! i like it! People say that prawning is waste of time and money but i think is a way to relax myself and think nothing except how many prawns can i get today. lols.

Other than that, i like to listen to old Chinese and English song because i found them meaningful and have sentimental value because i always listen with my mother.I don't really have any favourite movie or tv programme because i watch everything.

Next i have a small little dog which everyone call him little greedy.he loves  food a lot. If you are holding on to something that he know that he can eat.. he will just stick to you and hope that you will give him a bite! But he is also a stupid dog because he always anyhow urine and when he realize, he will hide himself to avoid scolding.. I love him so much. Cant imagine if he leaves us. i think i will be very sad.

Today is my First EIR lesson... after the course briefing, i was somehow get a little worried  because i don't usually blog, don't tweet and i hardly use computer for my work!! It's stressing me!! Eventually i hope i can learn something new after the course and hope i can do well in the subject because i don't want the sucky results affect my GPA!!
